School is boo but classes are great!

Apparently this blog has become something like popular? Wow, I feel very loved. ^_^ Things are going well, and my host family is amazing. I have a lot of things to tell you guys about! Because of that I'm going to need more time than I have right now to tell you all those things. I promise to do a major update with lots of pictures tomorrow! If it doesn't come, I give you permission to throw things at me (and if you hit me, you have to join a Japanese baseball team as a pitcher).

So much has happened in a few short days! Luckily for you guys I write a book to my parents every day, so I can look at those to remind myself what all happened. A few major things for now:

-I have some amazing classes. Did I mention that? Like a peace studies class (rather than the conflict studies that are the only thing they teach in the US), in which we are taking a field trip to HIROSHIMA to visit the Peace Museum and listen to a survivor of the atomic bombings. This class is going to be intense.
-My family is definitely Christian, and it's amazing. I'm trying their church soon.
-Host family is just awesome. I spend most of my time with Okaasan (mom) and Taiyo (2 year brother), and though I don't see much of Otousan (dad) he's a very nice person. They're all so nice and helpful, and I'm loving staying with them.
-Japan is expensive. $4.50 for commuting to and from school everyday? $250 for a 3 month bus pass that only takes me to and from school or $60 for a bike? $70 for a prepaid cellphone? Yikes.
-Japanese baths. Pictures to come later.
-I tried fish last night. For those of you who don't know, I don't eat seafood. That was interesting. Okaasan was very nice about it and only asked me to try two small pieces.

Got to go catch my bus now. I'll write the long blog at home, so still promising for tomorrow!

  1. Holy carp that IS expensive! I hope you have enough for it T_T We dont want you getting stranded.

That makes me feel relieved to hear that you really enjoy your host family. It's so amazing to hear how open some families are and how adapting they can be. Looks like you found the perfect one! That'll be great for in the future when you visit Japan a lot more on your own free time (which i know you will... >_>...) because you'll be able to visit with them!

Even though you dont have wireless there (at the host house) it's good taht they help keep you busy and help you work on your Japanese. I know it's hard for me to work on my Chinese here because... everyone around me is learning Japanese. @_____@

I want pictures! (and will impatiently wait, going between your and Neil Gaiman's blog until they are posted.)

Out of plain curiousity, how's the food at the school? Better than cafeteria food here? I'd certainly hope so....@_@ Everything's better over there (everything's greener on the other side, I know I know XD)

Anyway, I hope things continue to go well! I get to hear about Japan from you and a friend of mine that's also over there right now (she's been there since the beginning of Fall semester, an entire YEAR there. I'd be so excited and constantly going everywhere. Even if I had to walk there.)
