Konnichiwa from Japan!! And the future too, because I'm now 14 hours ahead of the East Coast. Everything went very smoothly and I've arrived safely at one of the Seminar Houses for the university. I'll be staying here for the orientation this week, and then I'll move out to my host home whenever I find out who/what/where that is (just a little nervous about that). So far Japan is very cool and everything is what I thought it would look like (lots of bright shiny lights mixed in among the traditional houses and such). We arrived after dark so I haven't been able to see a lot yet, but tomorrow should bring lots of exploring.
One note to those interested: Bagpipes are heavy. Try carrying them around airports for awhile and see what I mean. Also, see the confused look on the security screener's face when she asks "What do you have???" XD
Orientation looks like it's going to be full of stuff so another update might not come for awhile. I'm also having to use the computer lounge here because of an adapter problem with my laptop. The plugs in Japan are two prongs, but my laptop is 3. >.> Hopefully I can fix that soon. Anyways, I am definitely suffering from some jet-lag. Sleeping (dozing really) on the plane didn't help much, so I'm going to find something to eat and then I'm going to bed (on a futon!). Ja ne! (bye for now!)
THAT IS FUNNY ABOUT THE BAGPIPES!!! I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU I CAN HARDLY STAND IT! HAVE FUN AND ENJOY LIFE SAMANTHA

ReplyDeleteGood to hear you got there safe, I'm sure you'll have a great time (once you get over that 14 hour jet-lag).
ReplyDeleteHow in the world did you explain bagpipes to the security screener? "Baggupaipu"? Must have been funny.
